About

The blog

This blog is simple.  You might call it shallow.  It’s a list of things that, in my personal experience, attract (or repel) men.  The list may not surprise you.  Is wearing red lipstick a mind-blowing tip?  Certainly not.  But beneath it lies a myriad of issues that define our lives as women: style, pursuit, connection, the battle of the sexes.  Sex.

So you’ll find tips here, but more, you’ll read about issues that divide our genders.  You’ll find points and counter-points.  You’ll find the occasional political rant and product advice.  You’ll agree, you’ll get pissed off, you’ll laugh.  Most of all, I just want you to tell me what you think. This blog lives and dies by discussion and debate, so it’s nice to have you here.

Why Soho?

I’m Amanda Moulson, and my friend nicknamed me the Soho when I started to write in earnest — and did, in every coffee shop and bar with wi-fi and a plug in London’s Soho. But the neighbourhood, not the nickname, inspired the blog. Yes, it may be full of ‘media people’ but compared to other places in London — including my beloved homogenously-hipster East side — in Soho you find that rich and poor, natives, expats and travellers, straight and gay collide. Some of the best conversations of my life have happened in Soho. And its bars and cafes have given rise to many of my most favourite relationships. I am hopeful I can create some of that magic here.

This subject is pretty far from what usually interests me, but anything this funny and this smart is worth my time.

HI! Nice to see you here! I hope you won’t think it’s a cop-out if I say both. Our world is currently filtered, mostly, through men, so our gender makes a few things so — but I think we are smart enough to control those things and turn them our way. At least that’s what I’m banking on… xoxox
